What Is Hyperhidrosis?

Hyperhidrosis is described as excessive sweating that is not caused by exercise or heat. Your body produces more sweat than it needs to regulate the temperature. If you sweat so much to the point where your clothes are soaked and your hands dripping with sweat, you might be suffering from hyperhidrosis. This type of sweating might appear on the scalp, palms, underarms, genitals, lower back, feet, or face.

Excessive sweating that disrupts your daily life and causes you embarrassment, discomfort, and anxiety needs to be treated. Your sweat glands overwork in the case of hyperhidrosis and this can cause infections, itching, body odor, and cracked or wrinkled skin. There are two main types of hyperhidrosis.

  • Primary Focal Hyperhidrosis: This is a chronic skin condition that can be hereditary, with no other apparent complications besides excessive sweating.
  • Secondary Generalized Hyperhidrosis: This type occurs as a side effect of an underlying medical condition or medication, leading to excessive sweating.

Some of the medical conditions that can cause hyperhidrosis are:

  • Infections,
  • Thyroid problems,
  • Parkinson’s disease,
  • Heart disease or heart failure,
  • Some types of cancer,
  • Obesity,

How To Treat Excessive Sweating

If you suspect that you might have hyperhidrosis, you should see a specialist to determine whether it is genetic or if there are any external reasons for it. The appropriate treatment is determined according to your specific needs.

Your healthcare provider can use some tests to ascertain whether you have hyperhidrosis such as:

  • Paper Test: A special paper absorbs sweat and shows how much you sweat.
  • Blood or Imaging Tests: Your healthcare provider takes blood samples or images under your skin to identify the causes of excessive sweating.
  • Starch-Iodine Test: An iodine solution is applied to the skin, which turns dark blue in areas of excess sweat.

If you want to treat your hyperhidrosis at home you can:

  • Use deodorants or antiperspirants,
  • Wear breathable clothes with natural materials such as cotton, silk, and wool,
  • Shower frequently,
  • Change socks 1-2 times a day to keep your feet dry.

In the cases of hyperhidrosis which is not manageable with at-home methods, an expert might recommend medications including creams, wipes, or nerve-blocking medications. Some operations can also be considered, including:

  • Microwave Therapy: A special device emits heat to destroy sweat glands in the affected area.
  • Iontophoresis: Your hands or feet are put in a tub of tap water with a device that emits a low electrical current through the water to block the sweat glands.
  • Topical Aluminum Chloride Treatment: This treatment, similar to antiperspirant deodorants, is often the first line of defense.
  • Injections: These injections provide relief from hyperhidrosis for up to 6 months.
  • Sweat Gland Removal: The sweat glands are removed through cutting, liposuction, scraping, or laser.

Sympathectomy (Nerve Surgery): A small part of the spinal nerves that control sweating is removed.

My grandmother (66 years old) and I (26 years old) came from Italy, she for a neck and face lift and I for a 360 liposuction, abdominoplasty and bbl.
Right from the start, my referrer Selvi was able to patiently answer all the questions I had in the pre-surgery, give me the best quotation and guide me through the arrival in Turkey. After much consideration, I decided to have breast augmentation at Vanity and would like to share my experience with you. From the beginning, I had good contact with an organizer in Germany who arranged everything for me so that I didn’t have to worry about anything except my flight. I was warmly welcomed on-site and taken to a clinic where my blood was taken and I was then driven to a hotel where I stayed overnight. The next morning was my surgery appointment.
I was supervised by an interpreter named Mr Murat Yildirim, who was always available via WhatsApp to answer my questions. The operation was carried out by Dr Erman Menekse, who spent a lot of time with me during the consultation and gave me very good advice. We ran a simulation program together and he explained the different implants and the surgical procedures to me. The operation went smoothly and when I woke up I was well looked after, so I had hardly any pain and was able to be discharged the next day.
On the third day after the operation, I had more pain and Mr Yildirim immediately organized a transfer and an appointment at the clinic. The doctor examined me thoroughly and prescribed more painkillers.
The result of my breast enlargement is great and I would recommend the Vanity Clinic without reservation. I would like to thank, among other things, my doctor, my organizer, the nurses and the entire team who looked after me. If I decide to have another cosmetic procedure, my first choice would be this clinic again.

Hello everyone, I come from near Munich/Germany and would like to share my experience with you. On February 14th, 2024 I had my long-awaited operation (tummy tuck, liposuction)
I was in contact with lovely Dilek for a year because I had been thinking about going this route for a long time. Dilek was ready for every question throughout the year and always had an answer for me very quickly.
I compared many clinics in advance and all of them required an immediate decision. Nevertheless, I continued to be in contact with Dilek. She seems very understanding and patient to me, which is why I decided on Vanity. When I arrived in Turkey, dear Murat took over as my patient coordinator and was always on-site or available to me via WhatsApp. He looked after me just as understanding and relaxed as I was used to. As a result, I didn’t feel at all like a stranger.
My operation went well. Dr. operated on me. Algan. Despite all my fears, Dr. Algan felt like, on a human level, the best doctor I had the pleasure of meeting. You can throw all the German doctors in the bin next to him. Of course, I had fears and doubts, but Dr. Algan could take it back from me with a clear conscience. He is very cool, easy-going and relaxed and that gives me the feeling of being in really good hands. I felt like I was visiting a good friend. Only plus points for this doctor!! I don’t think anyone else could have done it like him!!
It’s been a week since my operation and my wounds are healing very well. Every day I feel better and every day I am happier when I can look at myself in the mirror. ‍

After a lot of research, I chose Vanity for my breast augmentation. I was very nervous but I did not need to be, everything was taken care of. All transfers and pickups were perfect and the hotel was very nice. It is too early to see my full results but so far I am very happy. Dr Alper seemed highly experienced, he listened to my wishes and made me feel relaxed and reassured. I had an amazing experience with this clinic. I just did my breast augmentation with. I am 15 days post opt now. Firstly, I want to commend my patient coordinator, he has been a huge part of this process. He was very accommodating and very responsive. Whatever questions I had, may it be small or big, he was there to answer. He made sure we were taken cared of all the time. From the arrangement of the car service, hotel, etc up to date he was following up on my condition and healing process. Secondly, my doctor, made the whole process a breeze. So all in all, I had a great experience. As to my results- I am really happy. I am still swollen and still in the healing process, but as to how it looks my surgeon did a beautiful job.
